Nobility

Titles in Flandrensis are earned, not bought. Those seeking titles for prestige alone are not welcome!

In Flandrensis, noble titles and awards are granted exclusively by the Grand Duke in recognition of outstanding contributions. They are awarded annually on Flandrensis Day (September 4th).
Titles are given to citizens or foreign micronationalists who distinguish themselves in:

  • Environmental action: tree planting, reforestation, clean-up actions, sustainable projects, etc.
  • Community involvement: organizing events, mentoring citizens, strengthening civic life, etc.
  • Cultural or diplomatic contributions: participation in micronational events, representing Flandrensis, intellectual or artistic work, etc.

To qualify, citizens must complete at least two recognized activities per year. A citizen may only be elevated to a higher title after a minimum of three years since their previous award.
All Flandrensians who have received a noble title are automatically part of the House of Lords. After the death of the sovereign, they have the right to vote to elect the next Grand Duke.

Knighthood

By joining Flandrensis, applicants pledge to protect the environment and promote sustainability. As modern-day knights, all Flandrensian citizens automatically hold the title Knight in the Order of the Melting Mountain, a symbolic order representing the melting ice mountains of Antarctica and Flandrensis’ commitment to environmental awareness.

In addition to this, Flandrensis awards the prestigious Order of Saint-Polycarpus, named after the national saint of the Flandrensis. This is the highest and most exclusive honor within Flandrensis. To be eligible, recipients must have actively served the Grand Duke in a political, diplomatic or civil capacity for at least two years.

Both orders have three grades: Knight, Knight Commander and Knight Grand Cross. Unlike other noble titles, this knighthood is ceremonial and does not form part of the official peerage.
Through these orders, Flandrensis recognizes citizens and foreign contributors who demonstrate dedication to the environment, community and the values of Flandrensis.
