The Flandri is the official currency of Flandrensis. It is issued in coins of 1 FL and 2 FL, and banknotes of 10 FL, 20 FL and 50 FL. One Flandri is equal in value to one Euro.
Coins
These coins were designed in 2025 by Zar Antonov, on behalf of the National Bank of Flandrensis. Each coin is struck by hand using a traditional hammer and mold, making every piece unique. Every tiny imperfection is a mark of authenticity. Both coins are entirely in the language Flandriaans.
The 1 FL coin features a penguin with Mount Siple in the background. The 2 FL coin honors our national saint, St. Polycarpus.
Banknotes
These banknotes were designed in 2010 by Frank Verkerk de Beauville, on behalf of the National Bank of Flandrensis. The designs incorporate many original elements from the early days of Flandrensis like the old national motto and Dutch as the official language. The series also pays tribute to the history of Antarctic exploration.
The 10 FL banknote features Adrien de Gerlache (1866–1934), the Belgian naval officer who led the Belgian Antarctic Expedition (1897–1899). His ship, The Belgica, is depicted on the 20 FL banknote. The 50 FL banknote honors Roald Amundsen (1872–1928), the Norwegian explorer who began his polar career as first mate on de Gerlache’s expedition.
