Since 16 April 2011, Flandrensis has pursued a foreign policy grounded in permanent neutrality in all conflicts, reflecting our nation’s firm commitment to safeguarding sovereignty through exclusively non-aggressive means.
Protection of territorial sovereignty
Flandrensis fully respects the prohibitions set forth in the Antarctic Treaty System. In combination with the Flandrensian policy of prohibiting any human presence on our territory, this ensures that Flandrensis will never engage in military activities on the Antarctic continent. Our sovereignty is protected through peaceful, lawful, and non-aggressive means, in strict adherence to international norms governing Antarctica.
International conflicts
Flandrensis counts citizens in more than 80 countries worldwide. We acknowledge that this rich diversity naturally entails a wide range of opinions and perspectives, including differing views on ongoing international conflicts.
Despite these differences, Flandrensis unites its people around a single, shared purpose: the protection of Antarctica and our planet. In striving to set a constructive and responsible example, Flandrensis unequivocally rejects war, hatred, and aggression in all their forms.
Flandrensis will only issue public statements on conflict situations insofar as they directly concern human rights, the environmental consequences of the conflict, or the presence and safety of Flandrensian citizens in the affected regions.
Micronational disputes
Flandrensis does not involve itself in disputes between micronations and refrains from participation in related controversies or rivalries. The micronational community is sufficiently broad to allow micronations to coexist independently and to focus on the development of their own initiatives without interference in the affairs of others.
So-called “declarations of war” issued by micronations are regarded as frivolous acts that undermine the credibility of serious micronational engagement and perpetuate the misleading perception of micronationalism as mere role-play. Flandrensis reserves the right to disregard such micronations entirely.
Should a recognized micronation engage in such conduct, Flandrensis shall immediately terminate any existing treaty, agreement, or form of diplomatic recognition.
